Overview:
The Advanced Studies Program has been implemented to meet the needs of gifted and talented students throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District. It establishes an articulated program at the elementary school, middle school, and senior high school levels. The Advanced Studies Program is designed to expand student assessment and identification and to offer a differentiated instructional program. Gifted learners perform at remarkably high levels when assessed in comparison with others of their age/grade peers.
Nightingale's School for Advanced Studies program currently serves over 150 gifted, highly gifted, and high ability students. The approximately 50 students at each grade level take honors level classes that help meet their need for an accelerated curriculum. The program has small class sizes that are designed to meet the specific needs of all gifted students. It is a demanding program, that provides the differentiated instruction which allows each student to meet the challenge of fulfilling his or her own potential and adequately prepares them for high school.
