Experiment #1: Finding Nemo 


1. Introduction:

The “finding nemo” experiment was done to determine several things, to determine whether boys or girls are better at communicating and following directions; To help us improve our communication skills; to help with directions and using correct scientific vocabulary; to determine if boys or girls are faster; and this experiment was done because Mr. dam was curious about who is better at following directions.

8.Conclusion: The hypothesis was proven incorrect as the boys did not win. The total time for the boys was 490 seconds. The total time for the girls was 379 seconds. The average time for the boys was 163 seconds. The average time for the girls was 126 seconds. The girls were faster than the boys, but we had the fastest individual time with 62 seconds. The boys had the slowest individual time as well as 336 seconds. For the girls, the fastest time was 80 seconds and the slowest time was 379 seconds. 

Error Analysis: In trial 1, there were no mistakes or the boys. The girls, however, were misled by Javier. In the second trial, the boys did not give the correct shape of the button to collect. The girls also did not give the adequate directions and Martha did not find the pin where they said it was. On the third trial, the boys forgot to tell Sonich the pin was dirt so he could not find it. As for the girls, Jenny went the wrong way at first, she poked herself, and she also fell down. This interference made our times slower. 

Recommendations/Suggestions We could make sure we included all parts of finding a position, the reference point, a direction, and displacements next time to ensure victory. With these pieces of info, we might have won. I will always make sure to include the 3 parts of finding an object so people can find it without problems. I can also use it in Geometry often.
